About the Item

This early Biedermeier piece from South Germany, dating to around 1825, is crafted entirely from solid walnut – including the top, apron and legs. The design shows the characteristic clarity and balanced proportions of the period, with subtly tapered square legs and a warm, naturally figured walnut surface that gives the piece an elegant and understated presence. The three drawers provide practical storage; the center drawer features a round brass knob, while the outer drawers have traditional key escutcheons. The desk has been restored and hand-polished, enhancing the natural depth and warmth of the walnut while preserving its antique character. Owing to its compact proportions, this piece functions beautifully as a refined writing desk but also works well as a versatile work table or a slim console table in living or entry spaces. Measuring 123 cm in width, 72 cm in depth and 80 cm in height, it offers comfortable usability, with a knee clearance of 58.5 cm under the apron.
