Perhaps the most striking feature of the desk is the wispy bird’s eye maple wood used in its construction. The maker has finished the maple using a time honored seven stage hand rubbed finish. This deep, rich finish gives the piece a depth and warmth only rivaled by antique pieces of years gone by. Also, he has used a light color that further accentuates the wood’s grain. Some of the features of this desk are common, while others set it a cut above the rest. For example, the solid plinth base is a sturdy way to support the piece. It gives the desk a subtle sense of presence in the room. Also, the black leather top is a great color blend with the wood. Leather on a desk can give a sense of timelessness to the piece as well. This large office desk does have other features important to everyday use as well. The back is fully enclosed with a modesty panel. That panel can be removed if you wish. The center drawer also acts as a fold down keyboard drawer. The pedestal to the left of where you sit is a large cabinet which can house a computer tower or be used for storage. Finally, the right pedestal houses a large file drawer. Each drawer and cabinet locks and keys are included for each. For transport, the large office desk does disassemble into the top and two pedestals, making it easier to move inside. The measurement of the knee hole is 25.25? tall and it is 24? wide.
