Circa 1780-1800 George III slant front bureau or desk, English. Mahogany. A handsome example - the interior with obelisk inlays on the document drawers, the prospect door with bold satinwood diamond inlay. Six undulating, valenced pigeon holes six holly banded drawers. Long history of quality period drawer hardware sets. Currently with brass open work batwing bail pulls. Simple bracket feet. Oak secondary wood. The brass facing for one pull on the fall front supports worn away. Marks scuffs commensurate with age use. 38 5/8" w., 21.25" d., 42.25" h.
