About the Item

Late 19th century country French provincial style diminutive writing table or desk crafted from fruitwood. The desk features a case decorated on all sides with a whimsical carved braided pattern apron having an open fretwork design. The case is fronted by a small storage drawer in the center and a pull-out writing surface above the drawer that is 16 inches long. The top and sides of the desk have a delicate thread pattern inlay with floral motif inlay on the corners. The case is supported with long, elegant cabriole style legs that taper towards the bottom. The radiant fruitwood has a desirable aged patina full of character and charm in a warm, dark honey finish. Beautifully crafted with solid joinery and a distinctive profile.
