About the Item
Fine and very well made Ladies writing desk in Louis XV style. An antique bureau de dame, with highly detailed marquetry in exotic woods with bronze mounts. The desk with a slight bombe form opens to reveal a horizontal open compartment above three small drawers, a nearly "secret" sliding door flat compartment and a red flocked writing surface. The desk with a brass floral and pierced gallery trim, gilt mounts to feet and knees and attached key.
Dimensions: 30 3/8" W, 18 3/4" D, 37 3/4" H to top of gallery, 29" H leg height and 26 1/2" D extended writing surface.
Condition: Please see detail photos. There are various signs of age and use including missing wood edge loss to drop desk panel, a few stable age cracks, lighter scratches, fading and staining to the fabric and a small loss around the edge of door. Despite the wear the table retains a particularly fine presentation.
