About the Item

This distinguished mahogany twin-pedestal desk exemplifies refined traditional craftsmanship, offering both decorative elegance and practical utility. The serpentine front profile, moulded panelling, and richly carved gadrooned edge create a commanding presence suitable for a study, library, or executive office. The inset writing surface is finished in a warm, hand-dyed leather panel, expertly tooled around the perimeter and framed by the desk’s sculpted mahogany surround. Beneath the top, three frieze drawers provide convenient access to frequently used items. Each pedestal is fitted with a graduated arrangement of drawers; however, one pedestal incorporates a notable double-height lower drawer, engineered to accommodate oversized documents, files, or bulkier office accessories. All drawers retain their original—or period-style—brass swan-neck handles with rosette backplates and traditional keyhole escutcheons. Drawer movement is smooth and well-aligned, reflecting the quality of construction. The desk stands on carved bracket feet featuring subtle foliate motifs, harmonising with the decorative carvings along the desktop border. The mahogany exhibits a deep, even polish with attractive grain variation, contributing to its refined and authoritative character. Dimensions Height 31 Inches Width 54 Inches Depth 32.5 Inches
