About the Item

An elegant and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Mahogany, Kingwood and Ormolu center table/desk, attributed to Francois Linke. This truly stunning rectangular table/desk is raised by elegant slender circular tapered fluted legs with topie shaped wrap around sabots, fitted chandelles and fine mottled top caps. Above each leg are wonderfully executed Ormolu mounts of lovely foliate decorations below a bowed flowing ribbon. The straight frieze displays one concealed drawer centered by a striking richly chased fitted Ormolu mount of scrolling floral designs while being flanked by elegant parquetry designed panels framed within mottled Ormolu bands and displaying a circular foliate decorated pull. Both side panels contain an extremely attractive pierced Ormolu mount of a maiden's bust flanked by bouquets of flowers and additional floral designs. The top displays a beautiful parquetry patterned showcasing the beautiful wood grain framed within a fine fillet and a mottled wrap around Ormolu border.
