About the Item
A special antique paint decorated French Louis XV style Bonheur-Du-Jour, ladies' writing desk, France, circa 1880. A beautifully hand-painted desk adorned with flowers and tranquil scenery depicting a young lady amidst a verdant countryside landscape by a lake with a lamb at her feet against a blue tinged sky, signed by the artist on the lower left ("PRAT"). An open shelving gallery rests upon a serpentine desktop with a velvet-lined writing slide within the apron, raised on classic cabriole legs garnished with hipped ormolu mounts and decorative sabots. A rare and exquisite antique finely executed full of warmth and charm.
Desktop is 28.63" H and knee clearance is 23.5" H.
