About the Item

Important American desk manufactured by Herman Miller, a kidney shaped desk designed by Gilbert Rohde circa 1941 for his Paldao line. This desk pack everything you need. Exotic paldao wood, book-matched in every way. It is created using two oval cases of drawers under both sides of the exotic thick wood top. Each sides is wrapped in suede and lined with brass nail head trim. There are six drawers of varying depth with a pull out writing surface on the top left. bRASS Drawer pulls with a repeated geometric pattern in reverse relief. Amazing original condition,, Wonderful patina, Wear consistent with age and use. Desk has a few chips and nicks. delivery avail to new York City or anywhere en route from Buffalo NY Rohde arguably one of the most important American designers of the first 1/2 of the 20th century. His work is documented in many books and his work with the Herman Miller furniture company represent an important contribution to the the high quality American furniture which was produced during this period. His vision in the 1940's really became the benchmark for what we call today Mid-Century modern.
