About the Item

Design solid Oak desk by Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron, " Votre Maison " edition. Free-moving top, on the left side a box composed of a niche and 3 drawers with black ceramic handles (handles made by the ceramic artist Boleslaw Danikowski), on the right a low shelf and a secret drawer under the top. 4 tapered legs including 2 legs installed in staggered rows. Superb patina expressing its past, traces of use on the top (see photos). French design from the 1960s. Height: 73,5cm (28.94in) Width: 140cm (55.12in) Depth: 65cm (25.6in) Robert Guillerme graduated in 1934 from the École Boulle where he excelled in architecture and furniture design. After World War II, he settled in Lille, in northern France. In 1948, Robert Guillerme was joined by his long-time friend, the decorator Jacques Chambron in Lille. The following year, Guillerme and Chambron met master cabinetmaker Émile Dariosecq, owner of a carpentry workshop, and the company Vos Maison was born. Together, they defined and imposed a new concept of furniture. Thanks to the creativity, originality and quality that characterize them, Vos Maison's products have quickly acquired great notoriety. Your House has marked the history of French design. Robert Guillerme designs the furniture while Jacques Chambron plays the role of salesman, welcoming and advising customers. The striking duo is completed by Dariosecq, whose workshop is responsible for manufacturing. Together they defined new furnishing concepts. Well-crafted chair backs, polished wood and thick cushions are the reputation of their armchairs and sofas.
