About the Item
A large and well-balanced Louis XVI–style flat desk crafted in mahogany, designed as a double-sided piece suitable for placement at the center of a room. The desk opens on the front with five drawers, each fitted with its original lock and retaining a working key, offering both functionality and architectural symmetry. Two generous side pulls extend the working surface, enhancing practicality while maintaining the desk’s clean neoclassical lines.
The rectangular top and the pulls are covered in green leather, preserved in very good condition, providing a refined writing surface that contrasts subtly with the warm tone of the mahogany. The apron is shaped with restrained curves typical of the Louis XVI style, emphasizing clarity and proportion rather than ornament.
The desk rests on four straight, square-section, sheathed legs terminating in brass sabots, reinforcing its classical vocabulary and visual stability. Elegant yet purposeful, this desk is well suited for use as an executive desk, library table, or writing desk in both traditional and transitional interiors.
