About the Item
19th century English carved desk in the chippendale taste circa 1860.
Here we have a fine quality chippendale inspired desk, not to be confused with numerous modern reproductions or made to order examples
Serpentine shaped on all 4 sides and veneered with beautiful matching flame mahogany. Solid wood writing surface with cross banded edging, finished with a hand carved moulded edge.
Fitted with 4 drawers each side which makes this a free standing partners desk. Drawers open on the key either side of a central hand carved swag decoration. Raised on 4 profusely carved cabriole legs, terminating on carved hairy paw feet.
Beautiful colour maintained recently re-polished in our workshop by hand. Working locks and key.
Minor surface marks to woodwork, in line with age and use. Original castors still with the table, but not fitted at the moment.
