About the Item
Elegant Mid Century brass and ebonised three drawer desk with leather inset, in the Maison Jansen manner. French - Circa 1950.
This Directoire style desk is made in bright solid brass with contrasting ebonised drawer fronts, sides and back, the drawers each having a brass handle and escutcheon.
The top has the original black leather inset, with gilt Greek key tooled embossed design. There are some scuff marks and light signs of use, a ring mark to the left hand side to note. Please refer to the photographs. The leather inset has been treated with a natural balsam, and waxed.
The drawers run very smoothly and are clean on the inside. The brass has been polished, and overall has a bright even shine. There are some signs of use, with a small indentation to the back, and the right hand side has some scratch marks. Please refer to the photographs for details. There is 60.5cm in height for legroom
