18th C. English Architect s Table w/Unique Legs, Expanding Top, Candle Shelves
Located in Atlanta, GA
An English expandable architect's table with candle stands from the 18th century. This antique table from England would have originally been used as an architects work desk, complete with a pair of small shelves that pull out from either side of that table, that would have supported candles for lighting. The rectangular-shaped top rests atop an apron that houses a faux-drawer with single brass handle, that when pulled, reveals an extension to the table. This slide out wood top is lined with leather, creating an additional writing pad surface. The leather top an also be slid back under the main top, keep legs out, granting access to storage within (see images for more details on this). Carved bracket accents adorn the underside of the skirt against each of the squared outer legs, which partially wrap the outer edges of the nicely-turned inner legs (which are slightly longer and terminate into petite caster feet). Needless to say, this piece has very interesting legs! A curvy x-style stretcher bar braces the legs under the bottom center for additional support. Note that the pull out leather top adds an additional 28" x 13" table top work space, with a floor clearance underneath of 24". This 18th century English architect's table, with expanding leather writing top...

19th Century English Bureau Plat in the Manner of Edward Holmes Baldock
By Edward Holmes Baldock
Located in Dublin, IE
A fine 19th century Louis XV style Walnut, Ebony and floral marquetry Bureau Plat in the manner of Edward Holmes Baldock, the serpentine shaped top inset with a panel of tooled leather within a border of scroll work and floral trails, the corners with shell and cabochon and foliate clasp mounts, above two frieze drawers decorated with floral marquetry and similar opposing dummy drawers, on cabriole legs applied with scrolling foliate and rocaille mounts trailing to sabots. Footnotes: Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) is documented in London Trade Directories of the period in various capacities but first appears listed at 7 Hanway Street, London in 1805 described as a '..dealer in china and glass'. But by 1826 the various facets of the business included '..buying and selling, exchanging and valuing china, cabinets, screens, bronzes etc'. Baldock's business seems to have largely involved trading in foreign items and between 1832-7 he was the purveyor of earthenware and glass to William IV and later purveyor of china to Queen Victoria from 1838 until his death. He is known to have repaired, re-modelled and adapted furniture...

Regency Davenport Desk Flame Mahogany 1830s Georgian Freemans Fine Country House
By William Freeman, Jeremiah and William Freeman
Located in London, GB
A beautiful, special and very rare flame mahogany Georgian Davenport in wonderful condition. Made by heralded furniture makers Freemans of Norwich, most likely in the 1830s, this fabulous and very much still highly usable Davenport will add superb quality, beautiful colour and bygone sophistication to any interior. Beautifully crafted from flame mahogany, this Davenport is extremely solid and reassuringly heavy. It features a sliding locking desktop ideal for storing a laptop and papers, four large locking drawers to the left side with dummy drawers to the right and a pull-out inkwell drawer complete with ink bottle. A beautiful and extremely rare feature are the pair of concealed slide-out candle holder ledges, much-needed for late-night 19th Century letter writing – this is the only Davenport we know of to have these. The sloping desk is adorned with the original racing green leather centrepiece with gold embellishments and has a bordered flat upper ledge. The front is decorated with four beautiful Corinthian carvings, most likely by William Freeman snr, who was renowned for his superb carving work. It has an impressive and imposing, shapely, Romanesque base and is set on attractive gadroon-mounted wheels for ease of movement. The drawers and dummy drawers have beautiful handles and brass-fronted locks and inside the desk are two opening upper drawers and two lower dummy drawers (where the inkwell slides behind). It has the Freemans stencil to the underside of one the drawers and has pencil marks underneath the base which appears to read “Palmer SC23”, which we haven’t been able to definitively trace but might indicate that it was built for General Charles Palmer, MP for Bath in the early 19th Century, who was married in 1823. Freemans of Norwich were a family of celebrated furniture makers based in the city around the first half of the 19th Century – father William and sons...

Hot Desk 1, Miami by Russell Bamber, Geometric Shaped Desk, Colored Laminate
By Russell Bamber
Located in London, GB
Hot Desk 1 is an eye-catching centre-piece sculptural unit that can be used as a reception desk. Hot Desk 1- Miami teeters on the edge of design, painting and architecture; selecting and employing elements freely and playfully to suggest function and familiarity. It is made to invigorate a space; to bring unexpected joy and dynamism to our lives, bringing a new and exciting twist to the space it occupies. Hot Desk 1 suggests function, and is functional, but its function is also to tease and beguile. The mischievous use of color and surface seduces the viewer into joyful excitement and further blur the boundaries of sculpture and design. Its dimensions are domestic but its forms create a frisson; a frisson that encourages the user to make a decision about their physical journey through a space (much as a kissing gate...
