About the Item

This rare 1970s desk and matching chair by Italian designer Fabio Lenci for Formes Nouvelles embodies the forward-thinking ethos of the era. The soft lavender hued plexiglass surfaces and sinuous chrome frames create a sense of lightness and fluidity, a nod to Lenci’s innovative approach to balancing materials and space. During the 1970s, Formes Nouvelles, a Paris-based design company known for its avant-garde approach, sought to push the boundaries of contemporary furniture design by working with visionary designers like Fabio Lenci. Lenci, already recognized for his futuristic designs, was the perfect partner for Formes Nouvelles.  His work during this period was characterized by the use of unconventional materials such as lucite and chrome, which became signature elements in their collaborative pieces. The designs produced from this partnership were marked by their sleek, transparent forms and minimalist aesthetic, embodying the essence of modernity and forward-thinking design. Condition: Good vintage condition, with scratches and scuffs that align with age and use. Light oxidation along areas of the chrome frames. The plexiglass is not affixed to the chrome frame; the plexiglass seat will gently move along with the movements of the user. The rubbing of the plexiglass on the chrome frame makes a small noise. Additional Dimensions: Chair: 24 x 18.75 x 28, 28"AH
