About the Item

This rare important vintage mid century French modern AR180 desk was designed by Alain Richard in collaboration with the A.R.C Mobilier National and produced by T.F.M circa 1970s. The desk is exceptionally well-crafted and features a sleek, futuristic, space age design. It is generous in size, yet elegantly proportioned and a superb example of French modernist design interpretation. Originally part of a suite of design-oriented, yet functional office furniture (see ad photo), this example features palisandar wood with an integrated laminate storage drawer. The drawer is locking and has a beautifully crafted solid wood sliding tray and the desk has large, round adjustable cast aluminum leveling feet. Alain Richard was a renowned French industrial designer of the mid-20th century known for his masterful ability to combine art with functionality. Richard’s designs in furniture and lighting have consistently pushed the boundaries of form and utility, earning him a reputation as a visionary within the realm of high-end, luxury furniture design. The limited-edition and highly collectible AR180 Desk is one of his most coveted creations and embodies his forward-thinking philosophy. DIMENSIONS W 72.5" x D 30.75" x H 30.125" CONDITION Very good overall vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Likely some prior minor wood restoration. Heavy and sturdy and fully functional. Working key included.
