About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning original Napoleon III French Empire desk with gilt bronze oversized fittings A very decorative and collectible desk in period lightly restored condition throughout. The desk comes complete with all original gilt bronze fixtures and fittings including two keys for the locks. It has four large drawers to the front, the left drawer is a very large single drawer with a safe drawer inside, the top has been removed at some point, I can have it remade for a fee There are some mouth watering signs of the original maker, a pencil signature to the base which is very faded, the gilt bronze feet are serial number stamped which looks to read BG699 The patina is lovely and original however its period so has all the normal ware and tare marks you would expect from a piece this age. I can have it fully restored to include a wash back and French polish should the new owner wish, I can have a new cattle hide leather surface fitted, basically I can have it made gallery perfect for a price if that’s what the new owner is looking for As it stands we have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom and it looks lovely Dimensions: Height 75cm Width 149cm Depth 78.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
