'Sulzer' Desk in honduran mahogany with silvered bronze details. Referenced in the Ruhlmann Archives under 1504NR. Stamped Ruhlmann with the Atelier A mark and dated 1932 on the underside. Provenance: Mr Sulzer, Paris Claude Boisgirard, October 1986. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
