About the Item

Mid 20th century elm and mahogany table by Carl Bergsten circa 1930. Beautiful table by well respected Swedish designer and architect Carl Bergsten (1879-1935) This table is able to extend, but is currently fixed closed, there is no leaf.  This lends itself perfectly to being used as a desk.  Matched elm veneers used on top surface with contrasting mahogany, with metal inlaid stringing which was typical of bergsten pieces of this period.  Further metal stringing to the frieze, narrow strip of stringing has been removed as it was incomplete. Standing on 4 tapering legs with fluted detail.  Recently re-polished in our workshop and ready for everyday use. Minor surface marks.
