About the Item

Important Rare Gustav Stickley Sideboard. This is one of the nicest Sideboards designed by Harvey Ellis for Gustav Stickley! This piece has several instances of true Through Tenon Construction. The back is in good condition. It has a beautiful original finish larger hardware (as seen in photos). SIZE H 43 IN W 54 IN D 21 IN STURDY STRONG, this piece is ready for use in your home or office. Gustav Stickley was a great artist. All of the furniture he made was "Through Tenon" Pinned. This is why furniture from 125 years ago still looks brand new. Reproduction furniture uses glue to "fool" buyers that it is "Through Tenon" construction. In the last 50 years or so, many Gustav Stickley and L&JG Stickley pieces have sold for $100,000 or more. They are true collectibles, but need to be in perfect shape and "untouched" condition. This is what makes them investment pieces. Please note: Most "Stickley" and “Charles Limbert” items and many Roycroft items online are reproductions, or outright fakes. For example, in 1974 a man named Alfred Audi, along with his wife Aminy, approached the widow of Leo Stickley before she passed. He purchased the L&JG Stickley company, along with the brand name "L&JG Stickley," and he manufactured furniture "In The Style" of the original Stickley work. Be careful of buyers who describe their items as being from a “Stickley School.” This is just a way to get you to believe the item is actually authentic, original Stickley. In most cases, it is not. We purchase most of our Stickley and Limbert furniture from well known collections in New York and in Philadelphia. We may pay a little more but we get the BEST. We have over 5,000 pieces of real Stickley, Roycroft, and Limbert furniture. We buy from collections in New York and Pennsylvania. We buy only the best. We pay a little more than other dealers, but we get only the very best. We don't deal with "problem" furniture. Watch 1stDebs for future listings of these pieces! BTW - We have dealt with original Gustav Stickley items (circa early 1900s) since the early 1970s in New York. For the last 44 yrs we have had a retail shop on Rt 15 in Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania. We have over 5,000 pieces of Real Stickley furniture. We buy from collections in New York and Pennsylvania. We buy only the best. We pay a little more than other dealers, but we get only the very best. We don't deal with "problem" furniture. W2443

This is a great Antique Serving Table with a small Sideboard (Model #8610) from Stickley Brothers from 1902. The original color in this item is fantastic! They used hammered copper or brass (as in this piece) on works like this, as you can see in the photos. Also, there are two (2) early Stickley...

Important Antique 8-Leg cir1901 Sideboard by Gustav Stickley
By Gustav Stickley
Located in Shamokin Dam, PA
This is an important Gustav Stickley 8-Leg Sideboard from 1901 in Excellent Condition with great strap hinge hardware pull hardware that you don't often see. Gustav made this model at the beginning of his work. There are very few examples of this. It was apparently too expensive to manufacture at this quality level. It is in excellent condition with original fume black finish. Also with Chamfered Board construction on the top dish holders. The sideboard also came with eight rare star wroth iron pulls. All of the hardware is iron. Signed with a 1901 box decal (as pictured). The sideboard is double pinned all around as pictured. All edges are sharp with no damage. The piece shows 99% of the original finish from nearly 125 years of normal use. Made from an excellent selection of quarter-sawn oak. All except one of the screws are original - one was missing. SIZE: Width - 69.5 in Depth - 25 in H -from floor to to top 38.5 inch PLUS 10.5 Inch for the dish holder on top. Gustav Stickley was a great artist. All of the furniture he made was "through tenon" pinned construction. This is why furniture from 120+ years ago still looks brand new. (Manufacturers of reproduction furniture use glue to "fool" buyers that their pieces are "through tenon" construction.) In the last 50 years or so, many Gustav Stickley and L&JG Stickley pieces like this one have sold for $100,000 or more. We do have have in our shop an important Gustav Stickley grandfather clock...
