Danish midcentury teak dining set by Arne Hovmand Olsen for Mogens Kold A beautiful set of six Danish midcentury teak dining chairs and extending dining table designed by Arne Hovmand Olsen and manufactured by Mogens Kold, circa 1960. The chairs are very comfortable and feature an organic back shape and pale blue French linen. They are constructed with a feature insert of plywood and solid teak and are in excellent vintage condition. The table easily extends with the benefit of a bi-fold interior extension leaf as shown in the photos. Overall, both table and chairs are presented in very good condition with no major marks to speak of and both table and all the chairs carry the maker’s label. Olsen’s designs span many forms including dining sets, tables and office furniture. He originally trained as a cabinet maker before starting his own furniture studio in the 1940s. Most of his work was for the Danish market but he later found great success when his furniture started to be exported to America in the late 1960s. This dining set is very typical of his characteristic design style of using clean, simple lines combined with organic forms and tapered legs.
