A remarkable study in structural harmony, this dining ensemble by Pierre Chapo pairs the T21B “Sfax” table with six “S24” chairs. Executed in solid elm and complemented by beautifully patinated saddle-leather seats, the set reads as a dialogue between powerful geometry and tactile material presence—quietly sculptural, yet built for daily use.
The T21B table is defined by Chapo’s instantly recognizable base: three converging legs that lock into a stable, architectural stance. Its bold, rectilinear top and softened edges highlight the grain and warmth of the wood, while the construction—honest and legible—turns joinery and assembly into a visual rhythm rather than something to conceal.
The “S24” chairs echo that same clarity. Squared legs and a pared-back backrest create a disciplined silhouette, animated by visible fasteners and carefully resolved intersections. The leather, wrapped over the seat frame, adds depth and character over time, reinforcing Chapo’s belief that the most compelling ornament is the one earned through material and use.

Pierre Chapo
Pierre Chapo, who was born in Paris, France, in July 1927, was initially interested in becoming a professional painter. However, after a chance meeting with a shipbuilder who introduced him to wood and woodworking, Chapo changed his focus and decided to study architectural studies at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
After graduating, Chapo and his wife, the sculptor and painter Nicole Lormier, started traveling extensively through Scandinavia and Central America. Among the many places the couple visited was Taliesin West, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright — a visit that had a lasting influence on Chapo’s future work and designs.
