Vintage Ercol Dining Table Four Rare Model 909 Latimer Steam-Bent Chairs (c.1970). A beautifully preserved Ercol dining set from the 1970s, featuring a solid ash table in the sought-after Golden Dawn finish and four exceptionally rare Model 909 Latimer chairs. Table Date: c.1970 Material: Solid Ash Finish: Golden Dawn Condition: Excellent — still full of life after 55 years, with only light, age-appropriate signs of use. Dimensions: 152 cm (L) × 84 cm (W) × 76 cm (H) Capacity: Comfortably seats 4–6 people. Chairs Model: Ercol 909 Latimer (rare steam-bent under stretcher) Date: c.1970 Material: Solid Ash Finish: Golden Dawn — perfectly matched to the table. Condition: Excellent Dimensions: 92 cm (H) × 50 cm (W) × 43 cm (D) Why This Set Is Special The Model 909 Latimer chairs are a rare find. This style chair is not your standard Quaker or Windsor chair, these are generously proportioned chair distinguished by their steam-bent under stretcher and timeless Windsor-inspired form. Paired with the matching ash table, this set embodies the craftsmanship and enduring style that have made Ercol a design icon for over a century. About Ercol Founded in England in 1920 by Italian-born designer Lucian Ercolani, Ercol quickly became one of the most respected British furniture makers. Ercolani’s career saw collaborations with Parker Knoll and G Plan, wartime manufacturing for the Utility Furniture Scheme, and in 1946, the launch of the now-legendary Windsor Collection at the V&A’s Britain Can Make It Festival. Ercol’s designs — from the Loveseat to the Studio Couch and Butterfly Chair — are celebrated for their spindle backs, bentwood arms, wedged-through-seat legs, and use of light woods such as beech and elm. In recognition of his contributions to British design, Ercolani was awarded an OBE in 1964. Additional Details Original Ercol maker’s sticker present on both the table and chairs. Wear consistent with age and use. The table and chairs are in very good, solid condition. Please note the chairs are on the large side with extra-wide seats compared to the normal Ercol dining chairs, they have been given a good clean and wax ready for use.
