A beautiful Regency Revival flame mahogany dining table complete with a set of ten Federal Shield Back dining chairs, dating from the mid 20th century.
The table is of fabulous quality, in excellent condition, can comfortably seat ten and is highly desirable. A large round table is perfect for dinner parties as all the guests can converse comfortably.
The monumental circular table top has been crafted from wonderful flame mahogany in a sunburst pattern and has a stunning crossbanded border comprising ebony line inlay and amboyna.
The fabulous table top stands on a decorative central pedestal base which is raised on five beautifully carved sabre legs terminating in decorative ormolu foliate feet.
This fascinating table represents all the very best elements of English furniture making. There is no mistaking the fine craftsmanship of this handsome table which is certain to become a treasured addition to your furniture collection, and a talking point with your guests at mealtimes.
The superb vintage set of ten Federal Revival shield back dining chairs have been masterfully crafted in beautiful solid mahogany with hand carved decoration throughout, and the finish and attention to detail on display are truly breathtaking.
The set comprises ten side chairs all of which feature an attractive shield back design and "over stuffed" seats that have been reupholstered in a beautiful teal damask.

In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned, polished waxed and the chairs reupholstered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.

Flame Mahogany
Thomas Sheraton - 18th century furniture designer, once characterized mahogany as "best suited to furniture where strength is demanded as well as a wood that works up easily, has a beautiful figure and polishes so well that it is an ornament to any room in which it may be placed." Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called "flame mahogany."
The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
Amboyna
is a type of wood which has its origins in Indonesia (the preferred veneer comes particularly from the Andaman Islands). The grain texture is one of the most seldom and exclusive on earth.
The burls are often very small, which is why the sheets of veneer come in small dimensions. The colours range from deep yellowish-orange to dark red.
After finishing the surface, the grain texture of amboyna wood has a depth and richness unmatched in other textured woods.
