About the Item
An attractive 18th century American farm table, crafted with a pine top over a maple base. This charming piece exemplifies the craftsmanship of the late colonial to early federal period. The rectangular top is formed of two wide pine plants with warm, well worn patina. The table stands on columnar tapered legs, joined by square stretchers at the ends and a central chamfered. Turned maple legs are joined by sturdy maple stretchers. Retains remnants of an old red-wash surface to elements of the base. A special piece and prime example of the understated elegance of 18th century everyday living.
