About the Item
Model TA180 extension table designed for Castelijn in the 1980s and attributed to Louk Straver showcases bold Memphis and Dutch Postmodern design. Black lacquered wood construction features an inset gray printed Formica center panel, creating elegant complementary contrast. Cylindrical legs with substantial diameter anchor the geometric form, while stepped edging detail on the underside adds architectural interest. Ettore Sottsass-inspired styling embraces the playful yet sophisticated aesthetic of the era.
Extension leaf allows for flexible configuration. Round leg forms contrast with the rectangular top, creating dynamic visual tension characteristic of Postmodern design principles. Gray Formica center panel provides textural variation against the glossy black lacquer surface.
Shows wear consistent with age and use. Slight sag noted with leaf in place.
