About the Item

Danish modern round tables from the celebrated 8000-Series designed by Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sørensen for Magnus Olesen in the 1980s. These tables exemplify the modular design philosophy that defined progressive Scandinavian contract furniture of the period. Each piece features a precision-crafted bent birch plywood base with gracefully curved legs that create a sculptural silhouette, paired with an inset black laminate top that provides striking material contrast. The 8000-Series earned recognition in Danish design literature for its innovative approach to stackability and modular functionality, originally developed for institutional and public spaces. The bent plywood construction demonstrates advanced woodworking techniques while maintaining the clean, minimalist aesthetic central to Scandinavian postmodern design. The combination of warm honey-toned wood and dark laminate surface creates visual drama through restrained material choices. Both tables show wear consistent with age and use. The bent birch plywood bases remain structurally sound with natural surface variation, while the laminate tops display minor marks from decades of service. In original vintage condition with visible wear consistent with age and use. Both tables are in comparable condition, with surface scratches to the laminate tops, minor denting, and light wear to the wood frames which add to the authentic character of the pieces without detracting from their visual impact.
