About the Item

Striking 20th century oakwood dining table from the early Art Nouveau period in Austria around 1905. A timeless, modern design from the pen of none other than the great renowed Austrian architect and founder of the worlwide known "Wiener Werkstaette" Josef Hoffmann. Famous for his visionary designs which were way far ahead of their time, this extendable dining table (up to a length of 87.2"!) impresses with its straight, clear lines. The beautiful oakwood table plate thrones on four solid square columns which are mounted on a beautiful aluminium covered base. This incredible Josef Hoffmann dining table is also a real transfomer: if you have invited more guests you can simply extend the table from the 47" to a considerable length of 87.2" within 30 seconds. Means this table can easily sit up 8-10 people very comfortablely. Biedermeier 19th Century Cherrywood Dining Table/ Center Table, Austria ca. 1830
Located in Lichtenberg, AT
Charming round Biedermeier dining/ center table from the renowed period in Austria around 1830. A wonderful handcrafted 19th century so-called "vase table" standing on an artfully designed, bulbous cherry veneered base. The absolutely amazing looking round table plate impresses with fine mirrormatched cherrywood which builds an outstanding pattern. An around 2" inch wide nutwood veneered frame on the outside, adorned by additional inlayed maple thread builds the perfect contrast. The highlight of this remarkable Biedermeier table is the inlay work in the center: an ebonized round field with a lovely floral design and the German words taken from the Lord´s Prayer: "unser tegliches Brot gib uns heute" - meaning: "give us this day our daily bread...
