About the Item
" CANGRANDE " table by Franco Poli for Bernini, Italy 1970'
A superb solid walnut wood table with a lovely beveled crystal top with sandblasted frosted bands by Italian designer Franco Poli for Bernini in 1979. Its architectural frame is a piece of craft, and Franco Poli applied the style for which he is known. Envision the table to be as big as a building and how impressive that would be. The ratios could make that possible. Let’s look at the frame with such a unique and elegant appearance because of the use of walnut, applied in a Bernini manner. The four solid legs carry a double beam that runs over the entire frame length and sticks out on both sides—resulting in an extra layer and dynamic perspective seen from every angle. The rays are held in place by respectively two Allen bolts through each leg. Those are connected to two pieces on each outer side of the leg. Another wooden connection decorated with the beautiful Bernini monogram is in the middle of the frame. Another refined aspect is the placement of the dark dots as a beautiful overall embellishment. The four ebony thorns on each leg carry the imposing crystal top. This top is decorated with two decorative etched bands, merely interrupted by those taking ebony points. An exquisite choice that is totally in consensus with the overall style of the table.
