About the Item

Danish Brutalist Oak Extendable Dining Table attr. to Henning Kjærnulf, 1960s. Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern dining room table in light Nordic oak. Attributed to Danish designer Henning/Henry Kjærnulf. Made in Denmark in the 1960s. Brutalist design with traces of Danish Modern influence. Hidden extension leaves in each end which are easily pulled out. This Henning Kjærnulf oak dining table features a distinctive sculptural base that showcases the designer’s refined craftsmanship. The tabletop is crafted from veneered oak with a warm, even grain. Along the underside runs a fine, decorative carved border, adding texture and visual interest without overwhelming the clean Scandinavian form. The most striking element is the cross-leg trestle base, formed from two elegantly curved X-shaped supports. These are joined by two shaped central stretchers with fluid, scalloped detailing—an unmistakable Kjærnulf signature. The legs are thick yet gracefully contoured, giving the table both stability and an expressive, handcrafted character. Together, the robust oak construction and sculptural base create a harmonious balance of functionality and ornament, making this table a standout example of Danish mid-century design with a strong, rustic-modern presence. Length: 140-250 cm. Width: 90 cm Height: 73 cm The table will be shipped flat packed. Please ask for custom shipping quote. Very good original vintage condition with only light patina consistent with age and use.
