About the Item

An early English walnut drop-leaf dining table, dating from the early 18th century (Queen Anne / Early Georgian period). The table features three solid, well-figured walnut leaves forming a near-square top with attractive double-lobed corners. The plain frieze encloses single gateleg supports to each side, raised on turned tapering legs with offset pad feet. Peg-jointed construction throughout, displaying fine craftsmanship and characteristic early walnut colour variation — including a lighter section of sapwood along one edge, enhancing its authenticity and charm. A notably heavy and substantial piece, made from early, high-quality walnut. An excellent early table in good condition and very much ready for use. Dimensions (approximate): Height: 70 cm (27 ½") Width (leaves up): 118.5 cm (46 ⅝") Width (leaves down): 39.25 cm (15 ½") Depth: 119.5 cm (47") Condition: In good condition, commensurate with age. Structurally sound and sturdy, with no loose joints. The top has been repolished at some point. A few small marks and blemishes are present, along with minor veneer repairs to one frieze and a small repair at the top of one leg. Cleaned, waxed, and ready for use. As with all antique furniture, light signs of age and use should be expected and contribute to the character and patina of the piece.
