About the Item

Designed by Lucian R Ercolani, the Ercol Old Colonial table is an early, rare and very collectable Ercol piece. There were 3 different ‘Old Colonial’ models, each produced in different shapes and sizes. Produced in the 1960s, it has the ‘blue Ercol label’ which was only used between 1955 and 1970. The original tabletop finish was very dark (Ercol called this ‘Golden Dawn’). For this table the top has been stripped and clear-varnished to reveal the distinctive grain of the solid Elm. The table is well used but in great condition. The leg frame is solid Beech with ridged detailing. The tabletop remains completely level when the leaves are raised thanks to a unique tubular support system – photos of this are available.
