About the Item

Exceptional round dining table was designed and produced by France Son for Cado, Denmark, 1960. A fine example of Danish modern craftsmanship, it exemplifies the balance between functional clarity and sculptural simplicity that defines mid-century design from this period. The table is crafted in solid and veneered teak, showcasing a beautifully warm tone and refined grain pattern across its circular top. Its elegant silhouette is defined by the slender, tapered legs, seamlessly integrated beneath the tabletop to create a light, well-proportioned appearance. The construction is both sturdy and graceful, emphasizing the precision and honesty of Danish joinery. A metal France Son tag is affixed underneath the top, authenticating its origin. This particular example is in excellent condition, having been expertly refinished with a high-quality UV and water-protective lacquer, preserving its natural depth and authenticity while ensuring durability. A rare and collectible model, this table embodies the timeless appeal of Danish modern design, understated, enduring and effortlessly elegant, suitable as both a dining and center table in contemporary interiors. 1960s Scandinavian Modern Danish Solid Teak Round Dining Table
By Eero Saarinen, Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner
Located in Grand Cayman, KY
Very elegant 1960s round dining table Made in Denmark, unusually constructed from solid teak wood (not veneered). Quintessential Scandinavian Modern design: minimal, fine materials, highly practical, clean smooth lines, sturdy construction and timeless aesthetic. The table has a diameter of 40 in (100 cm) and a single leg, which achieves an uncluttered appearance under the table and buttressing into four feet that rise a low profile parallel to the floor. This leg form in teak bears a striking resemblance to the iconic La Fonda base by Charles Eames, which was cast in Aluminum. Table height is standard 28.5 in (72 cm). The leg and feet are also carved from beautiful solid, strait grained teak. The table has been professionally refinished in a hard wax oil which faithfully presents the original look and feel whilst providing contemporary levels of robust protection. The table has only extremely minor signs of wear considering the age and use. This timeless table shows every promise of gracing a kitchen or dining room for another 60 years, and then some. The contemporaneous cognac leather shell chairs...
