This elegant French Louis XIII style monastery dining table was crafted in the Pyrenees region of France circa 1970 using authentic 18th-century antique timbers. Inspired by traditional 18th-century monastery tables, the piece showcases the character, depth, and patina that only reclaimed historic wood can provide. Measuring over seven feet in length, the long rectangular top is built of old chestnut, displaying beautiful symmetry, expressive grain patterns, and natural age markings throughout.
The substantial oak trestle base features hand-carved turned baluster-form support legs, terminating in molded shoe bases and joined by a thick cross stretcher for strength and stability. The carved oak construction reflects the robust architectural character associated with Louis XIII monastery tables, prized for their durability, simplicity, and timeless presence.
This French dining table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and retains a warm, rich walnut patina throughout, enhanced by attractive natural distress to the surface.
