About the Item

Crafted in the French Pyrenees using 18th-century walnut and other mixed hardwoods including chestnut and oak, this elegant round table embodies the robust character and geometric discipline of the Louis XIII style. Measuring 62.25 inches in diameter and standing 30.5 inches tall, the table features a richly inlaid top with a bold central medallion formed from contrasting parquetry in light and dark woods, creating a striking interplay of tone and form. The thick apron rests on a substantial base with four boldly turned baluster legs, each joined by carved volute stretchers and resting on scrolling bracket feet. The hand-rubbed finish reveals a deep, mellow patina and subtle wear, consistent with both its age and artisan construction. Both visually commanding and structurally sound, this antique table is a statement piece ideal for a breakfast room, dining room, or library.
