- Condition:Additions or alterations made to the original: The parquetry top is significantly older than the wrought iron and bronze base, which was forged circa 1940 s. Wear consistent with age and use. Good condition. Wear commensurate to age and use, with minor separations to top. Light staining and discoloration to the wood. Vertical iron support in center of iron is detached. Top rests on platter and is not permanently affixed to the base.

This elegant and beautifully carved wooden center table from France incorporates design elements from two of the most popular French periods.
The intricate hand-carved base exhibits aspects of the Rococo style: highly ornamental with asymmetrical carvings, scrolling curves and gilding. Although the wood has since been stripped, the table has a few faint traces of gold remaining in places.
