About the Item

A sculptural and highly collectible “Paracarro” dining table designed by Giovanni Offredi for Saporiti Italia in the 1970s. This impressive piece features two monumental cast-concrete bases whose rounded, architectural form references traditional Italian roadside marker stones (“paracarri”). Resting on these heavy sculptural bases is a polished metal cross-structure that supports a large elliptical glass top, creating a striking dialogue between raw mass and refined transparency. The Paracarro series is considered one of Offredi’s boldest contributions to Italian design of the era, distinguished by its combination of architectural geometry and unexpected material contrasts. The textured concrete provides a powerful visual anchor, while the floating glass top and reflective metal structure introduce a sense of clarity and lightness, making the table visually substantial yet elegant. Ideal as a centrepiece for refined interiors, modernist environments, architectural spaces, or collectors seeking an iconic example of post-modern Italian furniture design. A rare opportunity to acquire one of Saporiti’s most distinctive statement pieces. Good vintage condition, with light surface scratches to the glass and one small chip along the edge (visible in photos). The concrete bases show minor wear consistent with age and material. Structurally solid and visually impressive.
