About the Item
A custom-made circular dining table in the French Art Deco manner, featuring a radial sunburst top in book-matched figured mahogany with brass banding at the apron. The top rests on a fluted cylindrical pedestal base with four elegantly splayed legs terminating in substantial brass sabots.
At 72 inches in diameter, the table comfortably seats eight. With both leaves installed, it extends to a generous 10 feet, accommodating twelve or more guests. The extension mechanism operates smoothly, and the leaves — stored separately — match the figuring and finish of the primary top.
The design draws on the refined vocabulary of Jules Leleu and the great French ensembliers of the 1930s and 40s: the sunburst veneer work, the architectural pedestal, the restrained use of brass as accent rather than ornament. This is a table built for both daily use and formal entertaining.
