About the Item

A large Chinese mid-19th century dinning table, originally a calligraphy table, with original red lacquer. Table top with traditional Chinese design featuring a "floating panel", allowing for the central panel to expand and contract with humidity with no damage to the dining table. Apron and legs with burgundy / ox blood-coloured lacquer. The table has a beautiful, natural patina, highlighted by a clear lacquer finish. Measurements H: 77 / 63 W: 200 D: 118 China, Jiangsu Province, Qing dynasty period 1840-1860
