Large dining room table made of elm, designed by Olavi Hänninen for Mikko Nupponen, Finland, 1958.
This stunning live-edge elm dining room table features a trestle design and wood pegs. It has been lightly refinished, showcasing its impressive grain. The table uniquely blends rustic and Brutalist modern styles and comfortably seats six people. It is in excellent original condition, exhibiting only minor wear consistent with its age and use. The table can be disassembled for easy transport.

Olavi Tapio Hänninen was a Finnish designer and interior architect known for his modernist creations, including furniture, trams, and church silverware. He collaborated with Antti Nurmesniemi and Olli Borg on the interiors of the Palace Hotel, where he designed a notable plastic chair for the café. Before establishing his design studio in 1961, Hänninen worked alongside architect Viljo Revell in the early 1950s, contributing to the Palace Hotel's interiors.
Hänninen won a gold medal at the 11th Milan Triennale in 1957 and received the State of Finland Award for Industrial Design in 1977. He was also an honorary member of the Finnish Association of Interior Architects. A book about his life and work, "Muovituolista raitiovaunuun," was published in 2006.
