About the Item

Presenting a striking dining table from the Barium series, designed by the renowned Luciano Frigerio and crafted by Frigerio di Desio in Italy, circa 1970. This exceptional piece exemplifies Frigerio's unique design philosophy, blending the raw elegance of brutalist aesthetics with the timeless appeal of high-quality materials. The table features a robust base constructed from solid teak wooden parts, meticulously crafted into a bold, brutalist shape. The natural grain and rich tones of the teak wood are beautifully showcased, lending a warm and earthy character to the overall design. This sturdy base supports a large, round glass top, distinguished by its captivating ocean pattern, which adds a dynamic and visually engaging element to the table. In excellent original condition, this dining table retains its authentic charm and sophistication. It comfortably accommodates up to six chairs, making it an ideal centerpiece for intimate gatherings and dining experiences. The blend of teak wood and patterned glass creates a harmonious balance of strength and elegance, ensuring this table is not only a functional piece but also a work of art. Luciano Frigerio's Barium series is celebrated for its innovative approach to design, and this dining table is a testament to his visionary talent. Whether placed in a contemporary or classic setting, it promises to be a conversation starter and a cherished addition to any home. Please note that the 6 chairs on the pictures are not included in this listing. Luciano Frigerio was born in Desio in 1928, where his Father Giovanni set up a small workshop of highly crafted cabinet making in 1889, Luciano attended the junior school at the Collegio Paola di Rosa in Desio. Luciano Frigerio completed his technical and administrative studies at the Pio XI College, gaining his diploma of Accounting, while at the same time cultivating and combining his two great passions, which he had had since his adolescence of designing furniture and composing music. Already in the 1960s it was common to order specialized reading material and magazines focused on the sector from the States. Frequent visits to prestigious craftsmen’s studios like Canturine, where he often met Masters like Gio’ Ponti, Franco Albini, Carlo De Carli and Tapio Wirkkala, brought about the transformation of his small family business into a company which was oriented to the International market (Frigerio di desio). In 1973 he was given the honorary title of Commendatore della Repubblica Italiana. One of the staff of technicians who worked in close collaboration with Frigerio helped him to realize his dream, that was to create a piece of furniture which was unique, made by putting together as many excellent materials as possible. From this idea “Mobili Scultura” (furniture sculpture) was born, in solid wood and the headboards for “Letti scultura” (Bed Sculpture) in a fusion of bronze, which created a totally new style, standing out from the industrial production of that era. In 1989 he was nominated Cavaliere dell’Ordine Equestre del Santo Sepolcro di Gerusalemme.

This table is a typical architects design, its clearly visible in the way its constructed and shaped. The table is differenly nice from every angle and is very nice in use as well. The middle part is open and can be used to store items, books, or paper work and it will be only visible from the top and sides. The table can be fully dis assembled for safe shipping.
