About the Item

A timelessly designed dining table that Michael Taylor did for Baker Furniture. This table starts out as a rectangle but with three impressive leaves it can extend to 122". The table has a slight chinoiserie feel (especially at the bottom of the table legs). It was part of the Far East Collection. It has small brass wheels at the bottom of the table legs that make it easier to extend the table. There is also a drop down support leg that can be utilized when the leaves are in place (to support the additional weight). This table appears to have its original stain/finish, which is a very dark brown (espresso colored). We've had this same table in the past in a high gloss black lacquer and also one that was restored and stained black. We chose not to send this one out for restoration so the buyer could choose to keep it as is (with some minor imperfections) or finish in the color they most desire. The dimensions are 68"L x 44"W x 28.25"H. There are three leaves (18" each). The table has unmatched flexibility. You can seat 6 comfortably with no leaves, add one leaf to seat 8, 2 leaves to seat 10 or all three to seat 12 people. This may be one of Micheal Taylor's finest designs. Michael Taylor was one of Architectural Digest's Top 20 Designers of All Time. He is considered to be the father of the California look. He designed several furniture collections for Baker. This table is a great example of his unique design sensibility.
