About the Item
Originally designed by Pierre Chapo in the late 1960s, the T21 dining table is a testament to the designer’s architectural precision and structural ingenuity. Handcrafted today by Chapo Création, the official Pierre Chapo workshop in France run by his grandson, each piece is produced according to the exact proportions, materials, and methods established by Chapo himself.
The T21 required exceptional precision in its conception. Its design is based on a carefully calculated interplay of geometry and structure: the inclination of each leg and its connection to the top had to be finely tuned to achieve perfect balance and stability. At the heart of the converging legs lies a pentagonal wooden hub, functioning like a central bolt that locks the entire composition in place, a hallmark of Chapo’s mastery in wood engineering.
Crafted in solid elm or oak, the table’s sculptural base and perfectly proportioned round top exemplify Chapo’s belief in functional beauty and structural honesty. The surface is finished by hand with a natural blend of linseed oil and turpentine, chosen for its ecological integrity, tactile warmth, and suitability for everyday use.

Pierre Chapo
Pierre Chapo, who was born in Paris, France, in July 1927, was initially interested in becoming a professional painter. However, after a chance meeting with a shipbuilder who introduced him to wood and woodworking, Chapo changed his focus and decided to study architectural studies at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
After graduating, Chapo and his wife, the sculptor and painter Nicole Lormier, started traveling extensively through Scandinavia and Central America. Among the many places the couple visited was Taliesin West, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright — a visit that had a lasting influence on Chapo’s future work and designs.
