Both pieces date to the early 20th century, originating from Belgium and brought together in a minimal yet monumental form. The tabletop, originally part of a mill structure, rests on a base once used to support boats. The surface retains its authentic texture and irregular edge, with a beautiful detail — hand-wrought iron inserts at the rim. This functional and decorative element was likely added historically to stabilize a natural split, offering a refined industrial accent while preserving the table's integrity. The metal, exposed and untreated, contrasts subtly with the richly grained, timeworn oak and adds an expressive material counterpoint. No structural modifications have been made; the pieces are assembled from original old elements without alteration, though the wood has been selectively darkened for tonal unity.
