This table embodies the rationalist design principles of the 1930s, where clarity of structure and functional simplicity defined the aesthetic. Its shape is linear and strictly orthogonal: a long rectangular top is supported by four straight legs positioned flush at the corners. The geometry is reduced to essential forms, with no ornament beyond what is required for construction and use. The tabletop, covered with green linoleum, emphasizes the surface as a plane. The legs are sturdy walnut uprights, square in section and continuing the strict vertical–horizontal logic of the piece. An integrated drawer with circular brass knob is positioned discreetly within the apron. The shape, in its entirety, communicates economy and precision. The color tones of the table is striking in its severity, a quality that reinforces the rationalist ethos. The green is subdued, and the walnut frame brings warmth through its natural grain, yet it remains sober in tone. All in, the table demonstrates how rationalist furniture of the 1930s pursued functionality through pure geometry, where each element serves both a structural role and an aesthetic one, with no excess beyond necessity.
Kindly note that the piece is in used condition with visible signs of use, common for a piece this age. The linoleum contains cracks and stains, and the wood has imperfections in the veneer. Restoration can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier.
