Biographical Information
Designer, decorator, and theorist, Eugène Gaillard was one of the pioneers of French Art Nouveau. A close collaborator of Siegfried Bing, he participated in the famous Pavillon L’Art Nouveau Bing in 1900, where his creations were distinguished by their fluid forms inspired by nature, refined woodwork, and a quest for unity between decoration and function. His furniture, emblematic of the elegant naturalism characteristic of Art Nouveau, occupies a central place in the history of early 20th-century decorative arts.
