This set of three “Pill” occasional tables by Ray Geary features crisp white frames with resin tops embedded with colorful pharmaceutical capsules, a recurring motif in the artist’s work. Geary’s practice bridges fine art and design, recalling the conceptual strategies of Damien Hirst and the material experimentation of Gaetano Pesce.

Ray Geary 1
Ray Geary is a New York-based self-taught mixed media artist whose large scale work in resin and acrylic feature graphic abstraction and iconic, obtuse faces in equal measure. His works entail objects commonly associated with human vices, such as pills, bullets and in the case of Marlboro Cross, cigarette packs. These materials are arranged in a manner that transforms otherwise sacred emblems into hedonistic symbols, in turn exploring the dichotomy between dogmatic authority and playful subversion. Intentionally provocative, Geary's artistic practice is characterized by a championing of self-destructive behavior and flagrant disregard for societal taboos.
