About the Item

A true piece of functional sculpture, this monumental early 20th-century table is a masterpiece of Folk Art and proto-Brutalism. More than mere furniture, it is a piece of interior architecture that commands the room with its extraordinary materiality. Hewn from exceptionally dense solid oak, it is defined by its spectacular top, ranging from 10 to 14 cm in thickness. The surface, rich in texture, bears the authentic patina and marks of time, offering an organic tactile experience that only centennial wood can provide. What elevates this table to the status of an art object is the striking contrast between its massive structure and the delicacy of its ornamentation: on the raw edge of the slab, fine, naive floral engravings meander through the wood—a moving testament to a forgotten artisan craft. Its construction is a feat of technical ingenuity: the top is divided into three massive sections that slide individually onto the cross-trestle base. The entire structure is secured by an impressive system of iron tie-rods and 32mm bolts. Robust engineering built to span centuries. With a length of 240 cm and a depth of 78 cm, it serves perfectly as a majestic dining table or a commanding executive desk in a creative space. A rare collector's piece embodying the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, ideal for a minimalist interior, an art gallery, or a character property. Characteristics: Material: Structural solid oak. Era: c. 1900 (Folk Art / Brutalist). Construction: Technical assembly via threaded rods, 32mm bolts, and a 3-section removable top. Aesthetics: Massive X-base trestles and hand-carved floral friezes on the edge. Dimensions: Length 240 cm x Depth 78 cm x Height 74 cm. Comfort: Apron height (legroom) varies from 60 to 66 cm (due to the artisanal irregularity of the wood). Key Feature: Exceptional top thickness (10 to 14 cm). Reference: LDP: 20251207-001
