This elegant antique French games table was crafted during the Louis-Philippe period, circa 1850, and reflects the refined practicality that defined mid-19th-century French furniture. Designed as a convertible table de jeu, it presents a discreet rectangular form when closed and opens to a generous square playing surface, making it both functional and visually restrained.
The table is constructed in solid walnut and richly veneered in beautifully figured burl walnut, showcased across the top and apron with expressive grain patterns and a warm, honey-toned patina. The hinged top opens to reveal a green felt playing surface bordered by a decorative gilt brass gallery, appropriate for cards or board games. A fitted drawer is integrated into the apron to store playing pieces, while pull-out swing legs provide added stability and support when the table is fully opened.
