About the Item
A Country French Louis XV Period Walnut Game Table Mid-18th c. The shaped top with turreted corners and raised molded edge is cut from 2 boards that mirror each other down a central line. This technique, known as "bookmatching," is achieved by cutting two slabs from the same piece of wood and then placing the adjoining surfaces facing each other, similar to opening a book. The top is attached to the frame with pegs. The apron has 2 working drawers and 2 faux drawers on the short side. The table is raised on cabriole legs ending on hoof feet. It has light worming typical of period 18th c country French walnut furniture.
